Speed Mentoring
On Thursday Nov 13, 2008, the SMILE Mentoring program and Seneca Alumni teamed up to create a new Alumni-Student mentoring program, with it's first Speed Mentoring event.
The evening began with a presentation on the importance of mentoring in the workplace by Cecile Peterkin, an Alumna of the College. Following Cecile's inspiring words, 20 Alumni and 20 current students were paired up for short 2 1/2 minute mentoring sessions. Advice on process, graduation, job finding, professional associations, networking and relationships was shared and absorbed.
The evening was a resounding success. The SMILE program and Seneca Alumni have already begun planning a follow-up session for March 2009
