DECA (Demonstrating Excellence Celebrating Achievement) is an innovative extra-curricular program for secondary school students in Ontario that creates professional partnerships and experiential learning opportunities allowing students to develop confidence and demonstrate leadership in the business community.

On Thursday, October 29, 2009 DECA will be holding their Toronto Regional Competition at Seneca's Newnham campus. The competition requires approximately 70 judges in a variety of categories.  

More than 1,500 top high school students from across Toronto will participate at the regional competition held at Seneca. Top competitors will qualify for the Provincials in February 2010, and be eligible to qualify for the International competition in April 2010. 

The program is comprised of a multiple choice exam that all participants must complete. In addition, participants must participate in either an individual or a team oral case competition in one of the following categories.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF JUDGES:

One full day commitment (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. maximum)
Judges will be responsible for one case competition, that will be presented a by a number of students or student teams.
Judges will be responsible for scoring students based on a score card provided by DECA. The scoring is based on the ideas presented and the way they are presented.

WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED TO JUDGES:

Judges will receive training on the case they will be hearing on the morning of October 29.
A list of case competitions.
Judges will receive a light breakfast and lunch.
